White Mass Committee

The Mass and Blessing for Healthcare Professionals has become an annual tradition at the Church of St. Luke. Originally, this event was known as the “White Mass” – a nod to the white lab coats worn by physicians and other healthcare providers, as well as the white uniforms nurses traditionally donned in the past.

The Church of St. Luke seeks to recognize and bless all individuals who work with, and contribute to, the wellbeing of patients and consumers at every level of healthcare. It does so by holding this special Mass and Blessing, near the October feast day our parish’s Patron Saint Luke, who is known as the Patron Saint of Physicians.

Preparations for the autumn Mass begin in late June and continues throughout the summer with a total of 5-6 face-to-face or Zoom meetings. The Committee reaches out to family, friends, other local churches, and various healthcare and public /community-based organizations. This is accomplished by social media sites, eblasts, calls and flyer or poster distribution, if requested by a site.

Extra helping hands to join and facilitate getting the information out are always welcome! If you are interested in helping the White Mass Committee, please contact June via email at [email protected].
